Good Morning and welcome to the first Blog entry for Medeco. In fifteen years we have used many internet functions and applications but this is our first Blog. What we hope to accomplish is an educational, informative message each week. The subject matter will vary between products, processes and even a little Bio-med. We have a very seasoned staff with a multitude of experiences and over the years have gathered a wealth of information. In these weekly messages we hope to provide relevant information, with references and pictures whenever possible. If you ever have questions or want further information please feel free to email us at

Welcome to the New Medeco Website which also represents the new "Medeco". My name is Joe Murray. Many of you have known me and Medeco for the past 16 years. What you may not know is that I passed the Patton on to new owner managers last fall. Two local respected business men purchased the assets of Medeco, Inc. Jim Brandstetter and Tim Hansen took on the responsibility of the day to day management and marketing functions and maintain the same high standards of quality and integrity. Although I took my first step towards retiring, I plan to stay here for some time. Hey, this is fun! We have the same highly competent technical staff and I get to concentrate on sales and consulting.
Medeco has a local, national and international following, furnishing quality refurbished and new medical equipment to dealers and medical providers. We are always happy to provide service and operational advice as well as operating and service manuals to our friends in the business.
We try to cover the full Medical-Surgical spectrum of equipment and maintain a close network with other dealers and service organizations. Medeco, Inc has become the largest third party provider in the world (I believe) to sell and service Invivo MRI compatible vital signs monitoring equipment. Medeco is also one of a handful of companies that are competent at refubishing GE and Quinton Cardiac stress systems and treadmills.
If you are a current or past customer of Medeco, we would welcome your comments on this new blog! And please welcome Jim and Tim!

Whereas, as medical technology advances, healthcare facilities must keep
pace by providing quality, well-trained professionals capable of understanding
the complexity of medical equipment operation and applications; and
Whereas, the complexity of medical technology today and in the future makes
it essential that those individuals responsible for the care, safety, and accuracy
of this equipment are recognized as an invaluable resource to the healthcare
industry; and

In the world of Hospitals and high end specialty clinics most agree the cost for a procure or specialty operation requires specialty service. An MRI scanner was once a far flung item, but over time became routine. This relationship between new technology and medical procures has created a cost and demand benefit never more evident than in Hospitals. A hospital delivers a specialty service that provides for pushing the envelope of new services. If manufactures like Siemens can develop a new technology which leaps over the existing products, the hospital is the place to benefit from the product. The question becomes can the hospital afford the price? This is an important issue in the manufacture and hospital relationship. Each hospital must create a business model that can justify the price. The new product is now a require procedure and the patient pays more for this advanced procedure but if the procedure results in saved life or keep the patient from harm or pain then hey it’s worth it.
In the medical refurbished business we depend on this new product development to create a new level or generation of availability. As the hospital buys the latest and greatest their older models become available to others; and we then see an opportunity by clinics, doctor offices, and overseas to acquire this 2nd generation products.

As you know the economy has been an ever pressing issue. We have seen many operations fold this past year, and others being bought. Our local area has seen our two largest hospital out on buying sprees. Each one vying for a new clinic to buy, a new doctors office and specialty medical offices. It appears to us that the Hospital are moving out into patient care in a very big way. Why is this? Why do hospitals want local small clinics? Do they so much money that they have to find a way to spin it? We think there ia a move to step ahead of the new medical insurance laws. That the hospitals are following the money. It's happened before, and as most of you remember Dr's do not like to be told what they can do, and not do, So they eventually move out of the hospitals family and go independent. Well see what happens this time. So take a look at your community and see if your local hospital or the corporation that owns it, isn't out buying up clinics and medical practices.

Over the past few week we have seen an increase in demand for new large Sterilizers. This is something that has affected a supply of older used sterilizers and we wonder what will happen to these older systems. Usually we see them scaped into parts. But these large systems are set up to do a huge amounts of sterilization and part of a hospital program with excellent preventative maintenance. If these system are broken down into parts we deprive the hospitals of lesser margin and probably over sees customers the opportunity to use them. If you know of any customers looking for older Steris, Amsco, Getinge or Fisher please let us know.
